The Basics

I want to start the blog with the fundamentals. To lay a strong foundation for the rest of the goodness to be built on top of it.

Nutrition
The old saying goes " what you put in, is what you'll get out". That's 100% accurate when referring to the body. Obviously if you put a lot of junk into your body you will feel poor, sluggish, frumpy, tired, weak, unattractive. If you put good fuel into your body you will feel awake, responsive, operational, and well.. good. If you put excellent fuel into your body you will feel energized, alert, strong, powerful, confident. Remember the car analogy, put decent oil in the car and you'll get decent performance, put in top of the line oil and baby you're blasting!

The First Step: Vegetables
It's safe to say that out of all the food groups veggies are the least eaten. Ironically they are the best for you, providing the highest level of vitamins, minerals, and disease killing antioxidants.
Make it a rule with EVERY meal that HALF your portions are fresh, raw(uncooked) vegetables. They should be green and leafy like kale, spinach, sprouts, collards, cabbage etc. Also try and get color on your plate with veggies like beets, pepper, red onions, carrots, squash, artichokes, turnips etc.
Now I'm not saying get all those on your plate at once. Just get a combination of two, but make sure one if not both, are the green leafy veggies.
The biggest challenge with eating veggies is taste. I've been eating them like it's going out of style for the past 4 months and already I've learned to not only eat them with no problem, but I enjoy them. The refreshing taste of cool wet greens with some subtle earthy toned veggies, SO GOOD!! Mix them with your lean proteins and its Delicious!
But for those that your taste buds aren't there yet try experimenting with herbs, spices, and oils. Pretend your on one of those reality chef shows.
Try putting a Tablespoon of Extra Virgin First Cold Pressed Olive Oil into a pan on medium heat. Chop up some onions, a clove of garlic, and basil. Mix it all in there and keep it on the heat for 5-7 min(more if you like). And That's your sauce!
Pour that on top of any vegetable and you will scarf it down. I guarantee it!
Play with other herbs and spices, maybe some balsamic. Get creative, have fun with it, do what everyone loves doing when cooking, enjoy some wine and good music. If you enjoy the process of preparing your food, you'll most likely enjoy eating it.

By eating your vegetables you are providing your body with nutrients it needs to repair, recharge, and regenerate itself. After a week you will notice more energy, more regularity, better mood, and you will have a cleaner feel of yourself.
